Tom Bennett

Tom graduated from Lancaster Catholic High School where he played varsity football and track. His high school athletic achievements included varsity football Co-Captain, 1967 MVP and in track held he held records for shotput and discus for many years. Tom was also selected to the Lancaster County East All Star team following his senior year. His football skills earned him a full athletic scholarship to Villanova University where he graduated in 1972 with a BS in Business Administration. At Villanova, in 1968 his freshman team went undefeated (8-0) with wins over Army, Navy and West Virginia. The highlight of his three varsity seasons was a 9-2 team record in 1970. Playing in the original Houston Astrodome against University of Houston and earning 3 varsity letters at NOVA’.

Now semi-retired after a successful career in the food industry, he worked in leadership positions at Kellogg, Georgia-Pacific, Chicken of the Sea and Gedney Foods, Chaska, MN. He currently manages a food sales/consulting business.

Tom was a 2007 Hall of Fame inductee by Lancaster Catholic. Tom is involved in his community as an experienced soccer official and mentor having officiated for more than 25 years (1000+ games) at youth (USSF) high school (PIAA) and College (NISOA) level competitions. He officiated the PIAA 2009 State 4A Boys Soccer Championship Final Game. He was named 2016 Lancaster Lebanon League Referee of the Year and is the current Lancaster Lebanon League Soccer Officials Game Assignor.

Tom serves on the East Hempfield Township Board of Supervisors, is a board member of its Recreation Authority and is also a board member of the Hempfield Area Recreation Commission. On his list of favorite things and activities is his family, golf, and travel. Tom has been on the board since 2000 and currently is membership chairman.
