When did you first get a basketball in your hands, and what has the journey been like since then?
Washington: “When I was 7. Ever since then I just fell in love with it. Then eighth grade I had a really good year. Coach saw it and when I was a freshman he moved me up to varsity.”
What player do you look up to?
Washington: “Damian Lillard. I like his smoothness, his change of pace.”
If you could, what advice would you give to yourself as a freshman?
Washington: “Focus on your grades. Be more mature.”
What are you excited about with this year’s team?
Washington: “The big strength right now is our height. We have a lot of height. I think we’re better. We have a lot of guys who come off the bench who will bring energy.”
What are some things you’ve added or improved on your individual game?
Washington: “My range and change of pace.”
Time for some fun questions. You’re good at basketball. What sport are you the worst at?
Washington: “I suck at golf.”
What did you learn in school this week?
Washington: “The skeletal system. We’ve been talking about fractures and stuff.”

Washington: “Straight and Narrow by Sam Barber.”
What is your favorite childhood toy?
Washington: “The ones you sit on and it farts.”
