Colton Hegener competes as a point guard on Lancaster Catholic’s boys basketball team. He has earned 3 varsity letters going into his senior year.
His goal this year is to lead the Crusaders to improving their record from last year and to make the playoffs. He says he specifically can make the team better if he can increase his assists to “Get the Win!”
Within Catholic’s Section 3 of the Lancaster-Lebanon League, Colton looks to key games versus Octorara and Lampeter-Strasburg. Catholic’s rivals outside of their section are McCaskey and Columbia.
The Crusaders basketball team has been training all summer by practicing at an open gym, building strength and conditioning (along with the football team) and competing in a summer league.
Outside of basketball, Colton plays wide receiver and defensive back on the football team and situationally played middle linebacker to stunt and make tackles in the opposing team’s backfield.
In school, Colton excels in math and physics, while enjoying extracurricular activities of the chess club, the prom committee and the French club.
Colton plans to go to college and major in sports management or engineering, while playing football, if possible.
Mixed into his busy schedule of schoolwork and sports, Colton runs his own “do it all” business including power washing, hanging Christmas lights and weeding gardens.
