John David Petty will plays defensive end, offensive guard and long-snapper for the Warwick High School football team in 2026.
Warwick is coming off a 9-3 season with a second-place finish in Lancaster-Lebanon League Section Three. Petty's goal is for Warwick to improve upon that win-loss record, and make a run in the playoffs.
Petty, a Warriors' senior, hopes Warwick will best Twin Valley in L-L Section Three. However, his team is intent on taking one game at a time, with a trip to neighboring rival Ephrata up first.
Warwick’s offseason sessions involved working on position skills and weight training with conditioning.
Petty is a full-time vo-tech (vocational-technical education) student studying carpentry. He completed his graduation requirements as in his junior academic year at Warwick. He says he likes to “work with wood," and he plans a career as a carpenter building new homes.
Having previously been a leader in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes at Warwick, this year he'll focus on football and carpentry.
One of the Warwick football team’s key motivational quotes this season is "Tribe," in an effort to remind the team to build teamwork with team spirit!
