The Georgelis name is a familiar one on the tennis courts at Lancaster Country Day and racking up wins in the Lancaster-Lebanon League.
Michael, the Seection 3 Player of the Year in 2025, has graduated, but brother Gavin is back, aiming for more team and individual titles.
Gavin was also one of the top singles players in the section and league. His game is unique in that he uses two hands for both his forehand and backhand shots. "It just feels comfortable for me and works," Georgelis said.
"Our whole family has played I've been playing for about seven years. It's a perfect sport," Georgelis said during an interview at Media Day, hosted by LNP and Lancaster OnLine at Penn Medicine Park.
"The goals are to go as far as we can and try to win the section, league and districts as a team," Georgelis said.
He hopes to compete individually for championships. "The best part of my game is probably groundstrokes. I like individual sports, the mental part is important," Georgelis said.
His favorite player is Novak Djokovic, the all-time leader on the men's side in Grand Slam victories.
Off the court, Georgelis has performed in musicals at the Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre and American Music Theatre.
He palns to attend Rollins College in Florida and would like to work in the entertainment industry and hopefully Disney one day. But first he hopes to entertain Lancaster Country Day tennis fans with plenty of artful shotmaking this season.
