Delaney Hartlaub, Conestoga Valley High School, senior, attack
Q: What’s your origin story with lacrosse?
Hartlaub: “My sister started playing her sophomore year when I was in eighth grade. We had just started our middle school program at CV. So I signed up. It was a low commitment spring sport. I’ve been playing since then. I had done track the year before, and I played soccer when I was younger.”
Q: What are some team strengths?
Hartlaub: “We have a lot of unity, a lot of love for each other.”
Q: What are some things you’ve been working on to improve from last season to now?
Hartlaub: “Just the flow with team. Instead of everyone as an individual, working as a team. That’s been a big focus.”
Q: Do you participate in any other extracurricular activities?
Hartlaub: “I’ve done soccer in the past. Student council and NHS as well. I’m vice president of student council so we run homecomings and pep rallies, and with NHS maybe THON and stuff like that.”
Q: Time for some fun questions. What is your favorite school subject?
Hartlaub: “English. I’m going to major in English in college.”
Q: What book are you reading right now?
Hartlaub: “A Winter’s Promise. It’s like a young adult series.”
Q: What did you learn in school this week?
Hartlaub: “The Civil Rights movement.”
Q: Do you have a dream job in mind?
Hartlaub: “I’m going to minor in pre-law. Maybe the pre-law track. Not sure yet.”
Q: What dynamic does it present for you as a student-athlete growing up with your dad, Dave Hartlaub, being the longtime CV boys soccer coach?
Hartlaub: “Just the work ethic. You always have to be at practice on time, a lot of respect for coaches. I put that into my sport. I’m never going to talk back to a coach, I’m going to try to take the criticism with a grain of salt and improve.”
Q: What was your favorite toy as a child?
Hartlaub: “Barbies.”
Q: If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
Hartlaub: “You know Elastigirl from Incredibles? I want the stretchy arms. I’d like to lay in my bed and turn the light switch off from my bed.”
