Todd Bushnell earned varsity letters in football, track and baseball at Manheim Township. He was captain of the 1968 undefeated (10-0) Blue Streaks championship football team Bushnell held the school record for rushing and scoring and the Lancaster County Football League in scoring. He was selected for the All-County Football Team and for the PA Big 33
In Manheim Twp. Track, Bushnell held the school record for the 220-yard dash and was a member of the record holding mile relay team.
Bushnell went on to play college football at William and Mary under head coach Lou Holtz. As a sophomore in 1970, Bushnell rushed for 760 yards and five TDs. In his sophomore season he set the Southern Conference rushing record. As a senior and team captain, he gained 784 yards on the ground with one TD. He opened the scoring with a 10-yard rushing TD in the 1970 Tangerine Bowl, now the Citrus Bowl, which W&M won. His post season football honors included All-Southern Conference and All Big 5 Virginia.
In 1973, Bushnell signed a free agent contract with the Baltimore Colts.
