Bob Herr coached McCaskey’s baseball team for 13 seasons from 1961-1973, where his teams compiled a record of 154-73-3. His teams won seven Central Penn League baseball titles, including five in a row from 1966 to 1970. And his teams finished 2nd four times. Among his players was Jim Todd, who pitched in the major leagues for seven years with the Chicago Cubs and Oakland A’s.

Herr volunteered for 20 years as an LNP Baseball Tournament Commissioner (formerly New Era Tournament) and he was a paid scout for the Philadelphia Phillies for six years, focusing on American Legion Baseball in Lancaster and York Counties.

Herr also was an assistant basketball coach at McCaskey. He graduated from Penn Manor HS and Millersville State College, where he played first base for both teams. And Herr is a member of the McCaskey Athletic Hall of Fame.
