John McFalls graduated from McCaskey HS in 1958, where he earned letters in track, football, basketball and swimming. At McCaskey he was a halfback on the ’57 Central Penn Championship football team. Post season honors came his way as he was selected 1st Team All-Central Penn League, PA All-State Football and National Prep All-American. In 1957 he was the leading scorer with 90 points in both the Central Penn League and in all Lancaster County. McFalls was selected to the Big 33 Game, where the PA All-Stars played against an All-American All-Star Team. PA won 6-0.

In track at McCaskey McFalls competed on two undefeated championship teams. In 1957 he won a District III gold medal in the 180 low hurdles, silver medal in the 120 high hurdles and a bronze in the high jump. In 1958 he won a silver medal in both the District III low and high hurdles. In the PA State meet that year, he won silver medals in both hurdle races.

At graduation in 1958, McFalls was named Outstanding McCaskey Athlete.

McFalls went on to play college football at Arizona State University where he played four years under head coach Frank Kush. In 1959 he started on both offense and defense. As a halfback, he rushed for 589 yards with a 5.5 yards per carry average. He was third on the team in tackles. In 1959 he was MVP for the Montana game. At the end of the season, he was honored with the Glenn Hawkins Sportsmanship Award and ASU’s Outstanding Athlete. His finished his career at Arizona State University with a 5.1 yards per carry average.

For a career McFalls was a teacher and coach at Greencastle-Antrim HS in Franklin County. He coached football, basketball and track & field.
