Hooks was inducted in 1974 to the National Football Foundations Hall of Fame. The highest honor any coach or player can receive. At Franklin & Marshall he was a all-American quarterback who in 1914 led F & M to a 10-0 upset win over the university of Pennsylvania, He was a football coach for over 32 years at Massanuttan Military Academy, Iowa State, Lebanon Valley, Bucknell, and Lafayette College complying a record of 147-77.
