Bernie Santaniello played on Lancaster Catholic HS’s undefeated 1956 football team and played football at Millersville State College. He was an assistant football coach for Franklin & Marshall College for years and coached the undefeated football teams in 1972 and 1974.
At McCaskey HS, Santaniello was a longtime teacher and key assistant football coach, specializing in offensive & defensive line play and coordinating special teams. He was also a throwing event coach for McCaskey’s boys’ and girls’ track & field teams.
Santaniello coached football teams at F&M and McCaskey which won many football championships. In track & field, he coached one PA state HS champion in the shot put. Santianiello is an inductee into the McCaskey Athletic Hall of Fame and the Susquehanna Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame.
