Andy Loechner was secretary general of the International Softball Federation. He was chief of staff for all three of the Olympics’ softball tournaments: in Atlanta in 1996, Sydney in 2000 and Athens in 2004.
As Amateur Softball Association of Pennsylvania state commissioner, he was presented with the International Softball Federation Medal of Honor at the ASA state Hall of Fame banquet. He was the 12th recipient of the ISF Medal of Honor, the highest level of honor an individual can receive within the organization.
Loechner played fast-pitch softball at Rodney Park, playing for a variety of teams. He was chosen for the Lancaster Rec Commission All-Star team for five straight years at a center-fielder. He was among those who campaigned for changing the name of Conlin Field from Farnum Field. He served on President Ronald Reagan’s Committee for Physical Fitness.
