Laura Casey was born and raised in Lancaster City. She attended JP McCaskey High School. She played the string bass in the orchestra throughout school and spent time playing the string bass in a school band. She attended HACC for Paralegal Studies, later transferring to Central Penn College, where she majored in Criminal Justice. Laura has devoted many hours volunteering in some capacity within her community. Contributing to her community and those around her is a passion of hers. Whether that be within the Lancaster-Lebanon League, various school sporting events, along with many volunteer hours spent contributing to various political campaigns. Most of her weekends are spent with her family or in a gym watching one (or both) of her two boys compete as they both wrestle for Hempfield School District. Laura also was an active member of and occupied a chair on the Hempfield Wrestling board. In May 2021, she accepted a full-time position in the office of the National Wrestling Coaches Association, a nonprofit organization that focuses on coaching development from the high school level to college, as well as growing the sport of wrestling. She joined the Hall of Fame board in March 2022 and soon accepted the position of secretary.
